Who We Are

We are a team of five young scientists and engineers who are building a CanSat - a small satellite with its real mission.

We come from Prague, which is the capital of the Czech Republic. All of us are members of the OK1RAJ scout amateur radio club.

As we are the winners of the Czech national CanSat competition, we are now preparing for the 2017 European CanSat launch campaign. This is going to take place at ZARM in Bremen, Germany.

We have currently finished construction of our CanSat, which is called RAJsat4.

The New Dimension of CanSat

RAJsat4 brings lots of new features to CanSat construction:

Smart

RAJsat4 uses the powerful ATmega2560 microcontroller.

Localization

Information about RAJsat4's position is transmitted to the ground station. Additional systems are provided as well.

Well charged

Charging the batteries is so easy! Solar cells or USB can be used.

Resistant

Thanks to its construction, RAJsat4 can survive many impacts and shocks.

Modularity

A lot of different modules can be connected in order to realize specific measurements. This also makes RAJsat4 easy to repair.

Data saving

All the measured data are saved to microSD card and it can be later analyzed.

Secondary Mission

Our CanSat's secondary mission is to measure various physical quantities that describe air conditions and qualities. RAJsat4 measures air temperature and pressure, humidity and quantity of air contaminants. We also want to know what happens to our CanSat during the flight - that's why RAJsat4 also has accelerometer, gyroscope and compass module. A camera is included in our CanSat, too.

Aside from measuring a lot of interesting data, we want to visualize it during our CanSat's flight. It is possible to check temperature, pressure and humidity thanks to our web app. A meteo station, which shows current temperature & pressure status at the ground station, is another part of our CanSat project.

During RAJsat4's flight, real-time data will be provided through our web & mobile app.

Our app can be installed on any Android device.

The app needs only Internet connection, nothing more.

Czech National Competition

The Czech national CanSat competition final, held by ESERO Czech Republic, took place at the Letkov airport near Pilsen. Eight CanSats from teams around Czechia were dropped from a drone and started to perform their missions. Our team RAJsat won first place so we are going to participate in the 2017 European CanSat competition!
